The central Florida area and the UCF campus are thriving environments for aspiring undergraduate percussionists. With a comfortable size studio, there are many performance opportunities for every student within the department. We offer performance with exciting ensembles such as concert bands, symphony orchestra, percussion ensembles, steel band, jazz ensembles, the Marching Knights, and many other mixed chamber ensembles. Whether you want to be a professional performer or music educator, at UCF there is a place for you. The music department and percussion studio faculty team up and are determined to provide a world-class percussion education. UCF is proud and honored to welcome new Jazz Studies and Percussion faculty member, Marty Morell. Marty has performed and recorded with Bill Evans, Rob McConnell & The Boss Brass, Sammy Nestico, and Singers Unlimited, just to name a few. In addition to his impressive and diverse jazz background, he has performed extensively on Broadway, including the Original Cast Recording of the musical Ragtime. New equipment acquisitions: Our 4th 5 Octave Marimba (Malletech Imperial), 3 New Pearl Philharmonic Snare drums, a Manu Katche Hip Gig Drum Set, 2 new Pearl Drum sets, a selection of Bosphorus Cymbals, and a number of Pearl Folkloric percussion instruments.
